THE SHAITAANI LUST FOR LEADERSHIP
The crave for leadership is undoubtedly satanic. Those who entertain the lust for leadership are under the influence of shaitaani guidance. A group of miscreant, misguided molvis in Natal has taken this devilish road, dubbing their nafsaani programme, LDP (Ulama Leadership Development). The only source for such a haraam programme is Shaitaan. This evil idea displays the putrid and morally decadent state of the molvis of this era.
Regarding the evil of leadership, Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said:
“Do not seek leadership, for verily, if it is granted to you on your request, you will be cast to it. (On the contrary) if it is thrust on you without your requesting (i.e. without hankering after it), then you will be aided therein (by Allah Ta’ala).”
In the tafseer of this Hadith mentioned in Mirqaatul Mafaateeh, Mullah Ali Qaari says:
“i.e. Do not seek hukoomat nor Wilyaat (rulership, governorship, leadership and the like). Neither seek it from the khalq (people) nor from Khaaliq (Allah Ta’ala, The Creator). Indeed, if you seek it of your own accord you will be left to its (trials and dangers). You will be embroiled in it and you will not be aided (by Allah Ta’ala). ........Undoubtedly, it (leadership) is a severe issue. No one is able to bear it without aid from Allah Ta’ala, except that he casts himself in a quagmire of filth which will ruin his dunya and his Aakhirah. In view of these (dangers), a wise and intelligent man will not hanker after. “
Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said:
“You will avariciously (with greed) hanker after leadership whilst on the Day of Qiyaamah it will be a (huge) regret. Therefore, praiseworthy is the leadership (which is thrust on one), and evil is the leadership (which one hankered after).”
The nadaamah (regret) on the Day of Qiyaamah will be when the unjust, moron leader will be apprehended in the Reckoning. He will be speechless, unable to answer when interrogated harshly and severely reprimanded on the Day of Qiyaamah. It will be salubrious for this group of molvis to reflect with their souls on the following episode.
Several years after the demise of Hadhrat Umar Ibn Khattaab (Radhiyallahu anhu), a Sahaabi saw him in a dream. The Sahaabi was astonished to see Hadhrat Umar in a state of exhaustion and wiping the perspiration from his brow. In the dream, the Sahaabi asked Ameerul Mu’mineen to explain his pitiable condition. Hadhrat Umar (Radhiyallahu anhu) responded saying that it has only at this moment which was years after his demise, that he was released from the Reckoning. Every aspect and act of his leadership came under severe scrutiny
When this was the fearful condition of the greatest Leader who had ever ruled on earth with unparalleled justice, what do these miserable molvis think will happen to those who hanker after leadership? It should be well-understood that Hadhrat Umar (Radhiyallahu anhu) had not requested leadership. On the contrary, when he discerned that Hadhrat Abu Bakr (Radhiyallahu anhu) intended to appoint him as his successor, he vigorously refused the post. Only when Hadhrat Abu Bakr (Radhiyallahu anhu) threatened to slay him for disobeying the command of the Ameer, did Hadhrat Umar (Radhiyallahu anhu) reluctantly submit.
Some Sahaabah commenting on the Adal (justice) of Hadhrat Umar (Radhiyallahu anhu said that one act of Umar’s adal was more meritorious than two thousand years of Hadhrat Uwais Qarni’s ibaadat. Now reflect, fear Allah and extinguish the shaitaani and nafsaani crave of leadership.
Once when Hadhrat Abu Zarr (Radhiyallahu anhu) sought a post, Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) striking him on the shoulder with his hand, said:
“O Aba Zarr! You are weak. Verily leadership is an Amaanat, and verily on the Day of Qiyaamah it will be a Khizy (disgrace) and Nadaamat (a source of terrible regret) except for the one who had fulfilled its rights/”
Who can ever fulfil the rights of Amaarat (leadership) better that Sayyiduna Ameerul Mu’mineen Hadhrat Umar (Radhiyallahu anhu)? But despite this, what was his condition when the reckoning for his justice was demanded?
Commenting on this Hadith, Imaam Nawawi (Rahmatullah alayh) said:
“This Hadith is a great principle for abstaining from leadership, especially for those who lack the ability to fulfil its rights and demands. ...Because of the numerous dangers associated with leadership, Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) warned against it. Precisely for this reason did numerous of the Salaus Saaliheen refrain from it. They rather suffered the hardships (of torture) when they refused (acceptance of posts of leadership which the rulers sought to thrust on them).
The episode of Imaam Abu Hanifah (Rahmatullah alayh) is well-known. By order of the Khalifah, he was imprisoned and whipped severely for refusing to accept the leadership post of the Chief Qaadhi. Imaam Abu Hanifah (Rahmatullah alayh) was detained in prison for three months, flogged and finally he succumbed to the torture and died. When the post was offered to Imaam Muhammad (Rahmatullah alayh), he fled from the city. Similarly, other noble and great Fuqaha of the Salafus Saaliheen declined leadership posts. They opted to suffer under the torture of the rulers rather than accepting Amaarat.
Taking an oath by Allah, Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said:
“By Allah! We do not appoint to this affair (leadership) anyone who seeks it nor to anyone who hankers after it.”
The very first factor for disqualifying a person from leadership is his application for a post and his desire to be a leader. One who hankers after leadership is an Iblees. Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: “He who has been appointed a qaadhi, it is as if he is slaughtered without a knife.” It is like being tortured slowly to death. The true leader always feels himself suspended between Jannat and Jahannam, not knowing which of the two will be his final abode.
Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (Radhiyallahu anhu) narrated that Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: “You will find the best of people are those who have a great abhorrence for this affair (Leadership)....” Thus men of nobility, men of Taqwa and men who understand the dangers and pitfalls of leadership abhor Amaarat. It is on the shoulders of such men that Allah Ta’ala thrusts the Amaanat of Amaarat. When Allah Ta’ala thrusts leadership on a man, He aids him and ensures that he fulfils the demands and rights of the post.
Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said:
“Wail (disgrace/ruin/Jahannam for the umara (rulers/leaders)! Wail for the urafa’ (chiefs of tribes/governors and the like)! Wail for the umana (tax-collectors! On the Day of Qiyaamah people (i.e. rulers/leaders) will wish that (whilst on earth it would have been better for them) to have been hung up by their hair to the star Thurayya (Venus), and left to dangle.”
This will be the state of their nadaamat when they will be embroiled in the reckoning of their Amaarat. They will then realize the evil and dangers of their desire and craving for leadership whilst they were on earth.
The Sahaabi Miqdaam Bin Ma’di Karuba (Radhiyallahu anhu) said that once Nabi (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) held his (the Sahaabi’s) shoulder and said:
“O Qudaim! He has attained success He who died without having been an ameer or a leader or a secretary (for the leader).”
In their publicity seeking stunt, the juhala molvis say:
“The Young Leaders Academy piloted a project in KZN in 2017 to train our Ulama and Imams in leadership and soft skills.”
The brains of these moron youngsters must indeed be soft to embark on the stupid haraam leadership programme. It is a programme in stark conflict with the letter and spirit of Rasulullah’s commands and advices on the subject of leadership. It is better for this so-called ‘young stupid leaders academy’ to concentrate on the islaah of their nafs. If they reflect with sincerity they will not fail to understand that the satanic and stupid leadership programme is the bitter fruit of ujub (vanity/self-esteem) takabbur (pride) and riya (show).
There is no goodness in leadership programmes. It is a programme paving the way for Jahannam. Shaitaan is a cunning and a master ustaadh in the science of deception. Dangling deeni-appearing chimera, he ensnares stupid molvis into his tentacles to ruin their dunya and their Aakhirat. The emphasis of the Deen is on concealment and fleeing from the public, not on self-expression and hankering after leadership and public posts.
It is not permissible to initiate such nafsaani programmes, and it is not permissible to participate therein. This leadership programme is a massive trap of Iblees to further ruin the already ruined fraternity of jaahil molvis who are scandalously ignorant of the Maqsad for the acquisition of Knowledge of the Deen. The objective of Ilm-e-Deen, is nothing other than to understand how to worship and obey Allah Ta’ala to gain His Pleasure and salvation in the Aakhirah.
The objective of pursuing Ilm is not leadership nor da’wat and tableegh, nor anything else other than proper understanding of Ibaadat. As for positions of leadership which are necessary for the affairs of the Ummah, it is Allah’s responsibility. He thrusts leadership on whomever He wills. It is despicable and disgraceful for a Mu’min to seek leadership. These molvis are following in the footsteps of the kuffaar who have such nafsaani courses of study.
Describing the attitude of an Aalim of Haqq, Imaam Maalik (Rahmatullah alayh) says that he flees from the public. A molvi who loves the public domain is a jaahil who misappropriates the Knowledge of the Deen for gratification of his contemptible nafs.
